Cobrowser
The Lessonspace Cobrowser allows you to collaboratively use a shared browser window with students in a Space. This guide will walk you through how the Cobrowser works and highlight some of its unique features.
The Cobrowser is currently in beta.
Opening a Cobrowser
Ensure that Cobrowser is enabled for your organization. If you're a tutor within an organization, please ask an admin to enable it for your account.
To open a Cobrowser in a Space, follow these steps:
- Ensure you have Leading mode access.
Open a whiteboard and select the Library option.
This will open the Apps panel. Click on Web Browser.
You can either add the URL of the website you'd like to open or leave the field empty and click Share Browser to start with a blank page.
This will open the shared browser window. You can now interact with the website together with all participants in the Space and even open additional tabs within the Cobrowser.
Navigating the Cobrowser
Both you and your students can interact with the shared browser window. You can open a variety of websites, such as news sites, games, browser-based worksheets, your school’s website, or sites with audio files.
Once a website is open, it will be visible to both you and your students. You can scroll on it and open multiple tabs, just like how you'd do it in your local browser.
Note: The Cobrowser allows all participants to interact with the browser page. This means that all clicks will be registered, and the first person to click will take control. It is important not to display private information such as login details or passwords.
If your browser screen isn’t large enough, you can use the shared browser’s zooming options to zoom in and out.
Managing a Cobrowser
You have several options to manage your Cobrowser using the functions at the top right corner of the Cobrowser window:
Stop Presenting: Click this to minimize the Cobrowser window. This will not close it.
Close Browser: Click this to stop presenting the Cobrowser. Note that this will close the Cobrowser, and you will need to open it again. The new Cobrowser session will not restore the previously opened page.
Locking a Cobrowser
If you don’t want your students to interact with the Cobrowser, you can lock it. Once locked, you as the Leader can still navigate the Cobrowser, and your students will see the page but won’t be able to interact with it.
To lock the Cobrowser, click on the Lock Browser option:
Your students will see that the Cobrowser is locked.
