Security tips for your Lessonspace account
Safety and security are essential for running effective and secure online lessons. Lessonspace offers a range of customisable settings to help protect your account and classroom experience. Below is a non-exhaustive list of recommended security settings.
Access control settings
Enable Waiting Room
To protect your lessons from unwanted visitors (for example, if an invite link is accidentally shared), enable the Waiting Room. This places students in the Lobby until a tutor or admin admits them. Waiting Room is enabled by default but can be turned off in your settings.
Disallow non-members from joining lessons
This setting prevents anyone outside your Lessonspace organisation from joining sessions, adding an extra layer of protection against unauthorised access.
Require email to join
Requiring participants to enter their email address helps identify who is joining your sessions. For non-members, this also creates an account linked to your organisation.

Recording policies
Allow or disallow recordings
Recordings can be a valuable part of online teaching, but be sure to consult your legal team and inform users if sessions are recorded as part of your Terms of Use. Enable or disable them, like this.
Adjust recording access policies
By default, recordings are only available to admins and lesson participants (users who attended the session). These users must be logged in to view recordings.
You can allow broader access for teachers or students, but we recommend using password-protected recordings instead (see below).
Set up password-protected recordings
If you need to share a recording externally, you can protect it with a password. This allows access for users outside your organisation while keeping the recording secure. We recommend using a strong password and changing or revoking it when access is no longer needed.

Limiting admin access
Limit the number of admins on your account
Organisation owners have the highest level of access, including organisation-wide settings. Admins may also be able to change policies or delete recordings, so we recommend keeping admin roles limited to trusted team members only.
