Getting ready for your first lesson

The Lessonspace Student Dashboard

After being added as a student on the Lessonspace, you can log in to your student dashboard to access your Spaces and more. Here's what the student dashboard looks like:

On your dashboard, you can see all the Spaces you've ever joined. If you click "sessions" in the side bar, you will find a list of all the sessions you've had with your teachers. You can also join those sessions to review the documents, notes, or resources from your session.

Joining the Space for the first time

It is simple to join a space, and you don't even need to create an account first if you don't want to.

Simply locate your Space invitation, sent to you by your tutor or teacher. Click the join link, and it will open a new tab where you will be prompted to type in your name. Adding your email address is optional but recommended if you'd like to create a student account. When you're ready, click Join. Make sure you have given permission to your browser to “Allow” for audio and video.

If you are uncertain, we have a complete guide to joining a Space, which contains screenshots and a demo video to guide you.

You can troubleshoot any problems you have by clicking on the gear icon > Troubleshooting in the right-hand side menu.

You should be ready for your lesson when you get the message "Everything looks good!".

Explore the Space Features

The Document Tab and Whiteboard are where you can interact with your notes and work together with your teacher through the lesson. You can see your teacher’s cursor move and they can see yours. There are many awesome features on the whiteboard, so take some time to explore them all.

The Chat

It helps you speak to your teacher if you can’t hear them and need help troubleshooting problems. You can type into the chat, press Enter to send, post links, questions and homework in the chat that you can come back to in your next lessons.

Leading Mode

If your teacher enables Leading mode in the lesson, it means that wherever the teacher goes in a Space, you, as the student, will be pulled into that same tab. To go to a different tab, ask your teacher to disable Leading mode.

Exiting the Space

To leave a Space click on the cross in the top tab in your browser. You can review your work at any time by clicking on your Space link to rejoin the Space. All your notes and whiuteboard items will remain there unless you or your teacher remove them.
